Lenovo updates Yoga convertible with speaker in hinge with GTX 1650
Lenovo has announced the Yoga C940, a successor to last year’s C930. Like that model, the laptop has a hinge in which a speaker is integrated, but Lenovo provides the model with a new processor generation and optionally the GeForce GTX 1650.
At IFA, Lenovo will announce Yoga laptops with model numbers C940, C740, C640 and S740. The Yoga C940 is the top model of this. This 2-in-1 laptop comes in different versions, including with a 14″ and 15.6″ screen. The 14″ laptops get a Core i7 or Core i5 from the tenth generation, the 15.6″ variant a Core i9 or Core i7 chip from Intel’s ninth generation. Also, only the 15.6″ C940 gets the GeForce GTX 1650 optionally.
Both the 14″ and 15.6″ versions of the C940 will have a 4k and a 1080p model. According to the manufacturer, the battery life is a maximum of 17.5 hours with the 14″ 1080p version, and 10.5 hours with the 14″-4k version. The screen of the top model offers a maximum screen brightness of 500cd/m², supports HDR display and can display one hundred percent of the sRGB color space.
The rotating speaker hinge supports Dolby Atmos surround playback, just like the C930 that Lenovo announced last year does. The housing is partly made of aluminum and operation can be done via Amazon’s Alexa assistant, even when the laptop is closed. Further control options are offered by the Garaged Pen, a stylus that can be placed in the housing.
The 14″ C940 will be released this month for a starting price of 1499 euros; the 15.6″ C940 will be launched in October for a starting price of 1899 euros.
The C740 is one step lower in Lenovo’s Yoga range, but these 2-in-1s also appear in an aluminum housing in 14 “and 15.6″ variants, support Dolby Atmos and offer HDR playback. The C740 will not be available with 4k screens, will get tenth-generation Core processors, but not combined with the GTX 1650. The C740 will be available from September for a starting price of 899 euros and the C640 is a 13.3” variant. which will be available from October for the same starting price.
The Yoga S740 is not a 2-in-1, but a traditional laptop. Like the C940 and C740, this model will be available in a 14″ and 15.6″ variant. In the first case, the GPU is the GeForce MX250, in the second the GeForce GTX 1650. Lenovo supplies the S740 models with various Core i processors of the ninth and tenth generation. The S740 will be available with 1080p and 4k displays, with a brightness of up to 500cd/m². Unlike the Yoga C models, there is no fingerprint sensor, but an IR camera for biometric login with Windows Hello. The starting price of the 15.6 “S740 is 1399 euros, but the 14” variant is available with a starting price of 899 euros for a lower amount.
