Battlefield 2042 usually has between 1000 and 2000 concurrent players on Steam
According to SteamDB, the number of concurrent Battlefield 2042 players on Steam is usually between 1,000 and 2,000 players. The number is only slightly higher during the weekends. The new title in the Battlefield series has not been going well for some time.
At the time of writing, SteamDB is still giving a concurrent player count of 997 again and among others on ResetEra It can be seen that that number previously stood at 979. This number has never been this low before. The peak in the last 24 hours is 1784 players. Based on the number of 997 players, the shooter is in 332 place of most played games on Steam. Most players will probably play the game via Origin, the official launcher of publisher EA.
Battlefield 2042 was released last November. Within a month, the number of simultaneous players on Steam already halved to about 48,000 and the downward trend continued. In the course of February, the number of players did not exceed 5000.
Battlefield 5, the predecessor to Battlefield 2042, still does a lot better. This World War II-centric game currently has about 9,000 concurrent players on Steam, with its peak in the last 24 hours being 18,712.
Electronic Arts announced earlier this year that it expects to have to write down a lot on Battlefield 2042. The publisher lowered its forecast for annual revenues by $100 million due to the disappointing reception of the game.
Soon after the shooter came out, quite a few negative user reviews appeared. In it, among other things, the abandonment of the classes system was criticized, but also elements such as the sound, the gameplay and the many bugs.
