Netflix introduces ‘double thumbs up’

Spread the love

Netflix is adding a second like button to the streaming service. The ‘double thumbs up’ gives users the option to place extra emphasis on a preference. Netflix’s algorithm provides even more specific viewing suggestions based on this information.

“Think of the double thumbs up as a way to fine-tune your viewing suggestions. A regular thumbs up lets us know what you like so we can make viewing suggestions based on that. A double thumbs up lets us know what you love and makes it possible to make more specific suggestions”, so writes Netflix in the announcement.

The ability to give an extra thumbs up is now being made available for all versions of the streaming service, including the Android and iOS mobile application and apps for smart TVs. It may take a few days for the new feature to roll out on all platforms.

According to the streaming service, the regular thumbs up and down are a great way to get information for giving personalized suggestions. This system, on the other hand, would not properly reflect whether someone simply likes something or is really crazy about a movie or series. The original thumbs up and down will also remain part of the rating system introduced in 2017.
