Tesla to start production of Cybertruck and Semi-truck in 2023

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says his company will begin production of the Cybertruck next year. He also briefly mentioned that Tesla will start production of the electric Semi-truck and the new electric Roadster sports car next year.

At a show celebrating the opening of Gigafactory Texas, Elon Musk also apologized for the delay in the production of the Cybertruck. That delay is partly related to the new factory in Texas, where the truck will be built. This factory is now open, so production can only start now.

In total, Tesla now has six so-called Gigafactories: four in the United States, the recently opened factory in Berlin and a factory in Shanghai. Musk said that this year will mainly be a year of scaling up, after which there will be a lot of new products next year.

During the show, a copy of the Cybertruck came onto the stage, pointing out, among other things, that there are no door handles, because the vehicle knows that the driver is approaching and can then open the doors at the right time.

Tesla previously removed the vehicle’s production date from its website. The truck was announced at the end of 2019 and is experiencing some delays. It is an electric pickup truck made of armored metal with tempered glass windows. Tesla is releasing single-engine, rear-wheel-drive versions, and two- and three-motor, four-wheel-drive versions. The cheapest version should start at $40,000; the most expensive version starts at $ 70,000 on sale.

Tesla introduced the semi truck in 2017. This electric truck should have started production in 2019, but that was not achieved either. The cheapest version with an expected base price of 130,000 euros has a range of 475 km and the more expensive version with a range of 800 km is expected to cost 150,000 euros.
