Gigabyte announces lightweight 14″ laptop with Tiger Lake CPU and two M.2 slots

Gigabyte has introduced its U4 laptop. This 14″ laptop weighs less than a kilo and features, among other things, an Intel Core i7 CPU from the Tiger Lake series and two M.2 slots. The battery capacity is 36Wh.

The Gigabyte U4 weighs 990 grams and is 16.5 mm thick. The notebook has a 14″ IPS display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. According to Gigabyte, the screen can display 100 percent of the sRGB color space and the screen can be tilted 180 degrees.

The laptop is also equipped with an Intel Core i7-1195G7 CPU, which has four cores with hyperthreading and a clock speed of 2.9GHz, although the maximum turbo frequency is 5.0GHz. The U4 has an integrated Iris Xe GPU from Intel and comes standard with 8GB DDR4-3200 memory, although this can be expanded to a maximum of 64GB. The laptop also has two M.2 2280 slots, one of which supports PCIe 4.0.

In terms of connectivity, the Gigabyte U4 features a USB 3.2 Gen 1 type A connector, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 type A port, and a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 4 support. The laptop also has HDMI 2.0, a 3.5mm combo jack for audio and a microphone and a microSD card reader. The laptop supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The battery capacity of the U4 is 36Wh. According to Gigabyte, the battery lasts eight hours, but the company does not share how this battery life is calculated or with what workload that battery life should be achieved. The battery is charged with a power of 65W via a DC connection. The laptop also supports 35W charging via the Thunderbolt 4 connector. Gigabyte doesn’t mention a release date or suggested retail price yet.
