Blizzard: Diablo IV Contains Over 150 Dungeons
Blizzard has announced that Diablo IV will contain more than 150 dungeons for the player to explore, and that the game’s open world will consist of five different regions. The developer also shows new atmospheric images of what we can expect from these regions.
Blizzard publishes the new information and images in a quarterly update. According to the developer, “there are more dungeons in a Diablo game than ever before.” Blizzard does not specify in the blog post what it counts as a dungeon and whether, for example, sublevels of a larger dungeon are counted separately. In any case, there are many more than in the previous games, according to Blizzard. As in the previous games, the dungeons are still random. Which means the layout is different every time you enter a dungeon.
In addition to more information about the dungeons in the game, Blizzard also shares more information about the different regions. When Diablo IV was announced, it was already announced that the game breaks with the linear structure of the previous games, in which you go from level to level. Diablo IV has a more open world. The new footage shows an area where the player explores an abandoned monastery and a coastal region where it is wet and foggy.
Diablo IV has reportedly been in development since 2016. The game was expected in 2021, but last year Blizzard announced that Diablo IV would no longer be released that year. It is unclear when the game will be released.
