Nintendo adds Zelda and Animal Crossing DLC to Mario Kart 8
The Japanese game manufacturer Nintendo has announced that the popular racing game Mario Kart 8 will be expanded with two additional DLC packs. A The Legend of Zelda pack will be released in November and an Animal Crossing pack will be released in May 2015.
Each pack adds four new vehicles, three new characters and two new cups with four courses each to Mario Kart 8, Nintendo announced on Wednesday. The Legend of Zelda DLC adds Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link, while the Animal Crossing DLC takes Villager, Isabella and Dry Bowser from the stable. It is not yet entirely clear what vehicles and tracks will be added, but it is certain that part of the new courses will be situated in the game worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. Nintendo also announced that ‘Wario’s Gold Mine’ from Mario Kart Wii will be included in one of the packs, while the Blue Falcon kart from the F-Zero games will be one of the vehicles in the Zelda pack.
Gamers can already order the DLC packs via the Nintendo eShop and then pay eight euros for each pack separately or twelve euros for both packs together. Although the purchase can already be made, the DLC packs will not be available soon. The Legend of Zelda pack will be released in November this year, while the Animal Crossing pack won’t be ready until May 2015.
Fans of Mario Kart 8 can, however, get started with other downloadable content from today. Nintendo previously announced a free update that adds three Mercedes cars to Mario Kart 8, and that update is rolling out today. Gamers can then ‘go-kart’ in a Mercedes-Benz GLA, a 1950s 300 SL Roadster and a 1930s Silver Arrow.
