Microsoft will hold Surface event on October 2
Microsoft has sent out invites to a Surface event on October 2 in New York. At such events, the manufacturer usually announces new hardware. It could be a device with two screens.
The invitation posted online by The Verge shows the date and location, and an image consisting of lines. Presumably, that image hints at the product to be announced, but it’s unclear exactly what it is.
The Verge thinks Microsoft will announce a dual-screen Surface device on October 2. The site already released information about this in June this year. The device would be known at Microsoft under the code name Centaurus and had already been shown to employees internally. The device would run on a lightweight version of Windows 10, which is internally called Windows Lite.
Processor manufacturer Intel showed a prototype of a thin laptop with two screens in a fabric housing at the Computex fair in June. Intel does not want to release such a product itself, but uses it as a showcase or to show what hardware manufacturers can do with Intel CPUs.
In addition to a new device, updates are also expected for existing Surface tablets and laptops. The Surface GO is now over a year old and could get new hardware. The same goes for the Surface Book.
