Facebook will ban page giveaways from November
Facebook has tightened its rules on ‘liking’ pages and descriptions of mobile applications. In both cases, administrators will have until the beginning of November to comply with the new rules, the social network made clear.
One of the changes is that games that require a mandatory or optional contribution must clearly state this in the description of the game. That way it should be clear that the gameplay can change during the game, which should improve the user experience.
In addition, Facebook is pulling the strings when it comes to ‘liking’ pages for certain purposes, such as winning a prize. The administrator of a page may no longer ask to ‘like’ the page from November 5, according to the new platform policy. It is still allowed to ask on the page to use a certain app, to enter a promotion code or to check in.
Presumably, Facebook is trying to meet the complaints that have been there for a long time with the new rules, especially due to the giveaways on the social network. Some users felt that this “polluted” their timelines.
