Gigabyte confirms Nvidia will release GeForce GTX 880 in September
According to the Chinese site Expreview, Gigabyte confirms in an interview that Nvidia will release the Geforce GTX 880 video card in September. Earlier there were rumors that the release was planned for this fall.
Expreview’s article seems to have been deleted, but Google still has it in its cache. The fact that Expreview removed the article probably means that it contained information that certain companies did not yet want to have online. In the interview, the CEO of Gigabyte mentions that the company is coming with its own version of the GTX 880, GTX 880 G1.Gamer which has a huge cooler that could handle power consumption up to 650W.
The GTX 880 has been doing the rounds in the rumor circuit for some time. The Maxwell GPUs of a new generation would still be produced at 28nm, just like the current generation and the type designation would be GM204. Photos appeared online of a prototype with 8GB memory.
The interview with the CEO of Gigabyte took place at the ChinaJoy Game Developers Conference. Nvidia has still not confirmed anything about the existence of the Geforce GTX 880.
