Photos alleged Sony Xperia Z3 Compact appear online
Pictures have surfaced online of what would be the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone. The person who put the photos online claims that the device has a full-HD screen with a diagonal of 4.6 inches.
If that information is correct, then it is one of the smartphones with the smallest full-HD display to date; only a Japanese device from last winter has a smaller full-HD display of 4.5″. HTC used a 1920×1080 pixel screen with a 4.7″ diagonal in its HTC One (M7) from last year. The information comes from the Chinese forum Digi-Wo, where information about unannounced Sony phones has already appeared several times.
It happens more often that photos of unannounced Sony smartphones appear online: for example, photos of the upcoming Xperia Z3 have come online, which should follow the Xperia Z2 released a few months ago.
The Z3 Compact will have to be the successor of the current Xperia Z1 Compact, which came out in January. The Compact is a high-end smartphone, but with a smaller screen than the current generation of luxury phones. The Xperia Z3 Compact looks set to compete with, for example, the smaller of the two upcoming iPhone 6 models, which will be roughly the same size with a 4.7″ screen.
