Nintendo to bring Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD to Switch

Nintendo plans to reveal at a Nintendo Direct webcast that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and The Wind Waker HD are coming to Nintendo Switch. That reports the usually well-informed journalist Jeff Grubb.

Grubb and his colleague Mike Minotti of Gamesbeat make that statement on the Jeff Last of the Nintendogs podcast. They say they are “very confident” that the games will be announced. They don’t reveal where they get their information from. Jeff Grubb is often reliable with his information. When the Nintendo Direct webcast would take place in September, the two have not mentioned.

Originally, The Wind Waker came out in 2002 for the GameCube and Twilight Princess for the GameCube and Wii in 2006. It wouldn’t be the first re-release of the games; after their initial introduction, Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD came out for Wii U. Those would also be the versions coming to Switch, although a graphical upgrade cannot be ruled out either.

Another possibility the duo is discussing is that the Metroid Prime remaster will be revealed. Grubb has been talking about this for a long time rumored, but no official announcement has been made yet. The game should be released this year, he said. Furthermore, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp could get a release date; that game was shelved due to “current events.” Probably Nintendo was referring to the war in Ukraine.
