Avast Software has released an update to version 2015 of its security program Avast. This program is available in the free Free Antivirus, and the paid Pro Antivirus and Internet Security versions. In addition, there is Premier, which has additional management functions, such as the possibility to remotely take over a PC and possibly erase the hard disk.

In version 2015, various components have been improved, the web browser can be placed in safe mode for online shopping and banking, and a self-starting CD or USB stick can be made from the program to scan the computer offline. The main improvements made in this release can be found below.

• Grimefighter is now redone and called Cleanup.

• Improved Windows 10 compatibility
• Ability to check compatibility issues with other antivirus software
• Host-based intrusion prevention system (HIPS): an installed software package which monitors a single host for suspicious activity by analyzing events occurring within that host
• StreamFilter with HTTPS scanning is now available also for Windows XP/Vista
• NG is not using Volume Shadow Copy Service anymore
