Warner Bros. deletes PS4 and Xbox One versions Gotham Knights and shows gameplay
Gotham Knights will not be released on October 25 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is only available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Warner Bros. scraps the versions for the old consoles to give players ‘the best possible experience’.
In March, developer WB Games Montréal announced that action game Gotham Knights would be released on October 25 for both current and previous generation consoles. The studio has now unveiled an extensive gameplay video and announced that the game will not be released on the older consoles after all.
The developer write in a faq that the versions for the PS4 and Xbox One have been scrapped to give players “the best experience possible”. No further details are given, but it is obvious that it takes too much time to optimize the game for all platforms and make it playable on the older consoles.
Gotham Knights has already been postponed once. The game announced in 2020 should have been released in 2021, but that will be at the end of this year. The action game is from the creators of the Batman Arkham games and offers similar gameplay.
In an extended gameplay video, the developer shows how Red Hood and Nightwing take on criminals from the Batman universe. The game also features Batgirl and Robin characters, but no gameplay has been shown yet. Each character has its own play style and unique features. The game can be played single player and co-op. The game has a suggested retail price of $70 and the PC version is coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store.
