According to Bloomberg, Apple is working on nine Mac systems with M2 processors, including a MacBook Pro that will be available with an M2 Pro and M2 Max. The M2 Max would have 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores.

Apple plans to release a MacBook Air, an entry-level MacBook Pro, two Mac mini models, two models of both 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros, and a Mac Pro desktop system, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. all with an M2 processor. According to Gurman, the nine systems will receive different versions of the successor to the M1 processor.

For example, the upcoming MacBook Air and the entry-level variant of the MacBook Pro would receive an M2 with 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. Presumably, the CPU is again about 4 powerful and 4 economical cores, just like the M1. The M1 has 8 GPU cores and the M2 would perform better in terms of graphics with its 2 extra GPU cores. Reportedly, TSMC produces the M2 at 4nm, while the M1 is made at 5nm. This also allows the M2 to perform more economically or better, or a combination of both.

The Mac mini systems would be available with an M2 and an M2 Pro. Gurman does not report details about the M2 Pro. Apple is also said to be testing a Mac mini with an M1 Pro, but it’s unclear if it will appear, as the Mac Studio would have made this system obsolete.

The MacBook Pros with 14″ and 16″ screens could also see an update with the M2 Pro, but variants with an M2 Max would also appear. The M2 Max must be a processor with 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores, and therefore more powerful than the M1 Max with 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. Finally, the Mac Pro should also appear with the successor to the M1 Ultra.

The MacBook Air, entry-level MacBook Pro and new Mac minis will be released this year, the report says. The MacBook Air is also reportedly getting a significantly modified design.
