Rumor: TCL wants to release a tablet with a folding screen next year
Smartphone maker TCL would like to release a tablet with a folding screen next year. This is evident from a roadmap from the manufacturer that has appeared online. TCL will be releasing products under its own name from this autumn, according to that roadmap.
TCL has released smartphones under the Alcatel and BlackBerry brands in recent years, but would like to start with a smartphone under its own name this fall, according to information provided by telecom insider Evan Blass, who tweets under the name @evleaks, put online. It would be called the T1.
In addition to the T1, the roadmap also includes a T1 5G, T1 Pro and T1 Pro 5G. They should all be on the market within a year. These are phones that, according to the roadmap, will cost between 300 and 600 euros. The T1 is on the roadmap for 300 euros, the T1 Pro 5G is the most expensive. According to the roadmap, the tablet with a folding screen is 1300 euros. There are no further details on that.
According to Blass’ information, the T1 has a screen of about 15x7cm, an LCD with a hole in it and a surface of around 104 square centimeters and a diagonal of 6.53″. The soc is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675, with eight Kryo 460- cores up to 2GHz and an Adreno 612 GPU.TCL adds 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage.There are three cameras on the back, including a primary 48-megapixel camera and 16-megapixel camera with ultra-wide angle lens.
TCL has not confirmed the rumor. The first logical moment for the announcement of a smartphone is the electronics fair IFA, which starts in two weeks in the German capital of Berlin. TCL will hold a press conference there.
