Thermalright introduces cooler for HTPCs

Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Thermalright has released its latest cooler. The AXP-100 is intended for small systems with limited installation options. The cooler is therefore mainly intended for mitx motherboards and use in htpc’s.

The AXP-100 was designed for small enclosures such as itx enclosures and home theater PCs. The available space is usually limited and especially in htpc’s the permitted height of the processor cooler is limited. Thermalrights AXP-100 therefore has a height of only 58 millimeters, including the supplied TY-100 fan. In addition to the supplied fan with a diameter of 100 mm, a 120 mm or even a 140 mm fan can be mounted. The height of the cooler will increase: the supplied TY-100 is 14mm high, while a standard 120mm fan is 25mm thick.

The cooling block of the AXP-100 is nickel-plated, as are the six heat pipes. Without a fan, the cooler weighs 360 grams and can be mounted on all common sockets from AMD and Intel. The supplied fan is PWM regulated and can run at 900 to 2500 rpm and would then produce 22dBA to 30dBA of sound pressure. According to Thermalright, the AXP-100 would be suitable for almost all compact housings and the company has ensured that components around the CPU socket, such as the memory, do not get in the way of the cooler. The AXP-100 is available immediately for sixty dollars: a European price is not known.
