Hackers have gained access to car manufacturer Tesla’s website and Twitter account. CEO Elon Musk’s Twitter account has also been hacked. The company has now regained control of its website and accounts.

The hack came to light when Tesla’s Twitter account sent out strange tweets and was renamed #RIPPRGANG. The burglars then referred to a phone number that eventually turned out to be a computer repairman in the United States reports TechCrunch. It is unclear what they wanted to achieve with this.

Tesla’s website was also targeted. Around the time the Twitter account was hacked, a reference to the same hacker group appeared on the Tesla website. The site was subsequently taken offline, but a defaced page still appeared a few times. Tesla has now regained control of the website.

It is still unclear how the hackers gained access to Tesla’s website and Twitter accounts. The automaker has yet to comment on the hack.
