UK cybersecurity sector posted a turnover of £10.1 billion in 2021
The UK’s cybersecurity sector had a turnover of £10.1 billion in 2021. That is an increase of 14 percent compared to 2020, according to the British government. At that time, the sector’s turnover was reported to have been £8.9 billion. The sector also secured £1 billion in investment in 2021.
According to an annual report of the UK Government Department for Digitalisation, Culture, Media and Sport, by 2021 the island’s cybersecurity sector comprised 1,838 companies offering cybersecurity products and services and had 52,700 full-time employees in this sector. The UK government estimates that 13% more workers were added to the sector last year.
The UK’s cybersecurity sector companies collectively attracted more than £1 billion in investment by closing 84 deals with investors. The sector contributed £5.3 billion to the UK economy in 2021. In 2020, that was still 4 billion pounds, according to the British government.
