Twitter may introduce snooze button to temporarily stop push notifications

Twitter may eventually come up with a way to temporarily silence push notifications in the mobile app. A Twitter user found clues to this in the code of the Android app.

Twitterer Jane Manchun Wong writes and reveals that in code of Twitter’s Android mobile app, she encountered elements that indicate a snooze function to temporarily disable the push notifications. These notifications would still appear in the Notifications tab afterwards. Whether Twitter will actually release this feature and when is unknown.

The new feature appears to be introduced in the form of a crossed-out bell symbol, after which users can opt for the temporary shutdown. According to Wong, who more often discovers unreleased features in the code of social media apps, after pressing the bell icon, users are given the choice to mute notifications for one, three or twelve hours. There is currently no such direct function to temporarily disable notifications.
