Seagate has renewed its business-oriented NAS series. In addition to two basic models with two and four drive bays, the manufacturer also brings three Nas Pro models on the market that have more processing power and RAM.

The two Nas base models are equipped with a dual-core Marvell CPU and 512MB RAM. The storage systems consist of diskless versions and models available with drive configurations from 2TB to 5TB per drive bay, enabling the four drive bay model to access a gross storage of up to 20TB. The two drive bay model provides one gigabit connection and the four drive bay model has two. According to the manufacturer, the NAS models are suitable for up to 25 users.

Seagate aims with the Nas Pro line at companies with up to 50 users. This also includes a storage system in the series that is good for six drive bays, so that the maximum storage capacity can be 30TB. The Nas Pro systems are equipped with a more powerful dual-core Atom processor together with 2GB of RAM and USB 3.0 connections.

According to the manufacturer, its SimplyRAID algorithm provides the necessary security and raid setups are built up quickly. Furthermore, the enterprise firmware, called NAS OS 4, allows apps to run in a sandbox for security. The operating system supports a number of cloud storage services by default, but according to TechReport, the further app range is still limited. However, Seagate has released so-called Sdrive apps for mobile devices in order to be able to access files remotely.

In total, Seagate offers 25 different configurations of the new models, with prices starting at $199, approximately $145, and ending at $2,500, or $1,837. The NAS systems are already available, although the 5TB drives will not be available until next month. Seagate also promises to offer NAS OS 4 as an upgrade for the two NAS models it released last year with four and eight drive bays.
