Thermaltake introduces metal keys for mechanical keyboards
Taiwanese Thermaltake comes with metal keys that are specially designed for mechanical keyboards. The keys are said to last longer than standard plastic keys because they are zinc alloy and give a solid feel while typing.
The Metalcaps are available in four different packs, three of which contain five keys. These packs have substitute keys for the wasd keys, qwer keys, and the escape key. There is also a pack with replacement buttons for the arrow keys and the escape key. A larger package has all the letters, some punctuation marks and the arrow keys as a metal key. The keys fit any keyboard with Cherry MX switches and are secured by sliding them into place.
Thermaltake’s Metalcaps will be available in the US, Taiwan and Germany during July; later the keys will be available in other countries. The five-key packs have a suggested retail price of $19.99 and the 38-key pack is set to cost $69.99.
