Apple releases Kensington lock adapter for Mac Pro desktops
Apple has announced the Mac Pro Security Lock Adapter for its new Mac Pro models. The adapter allows a Mac Pro to be attached to a cable lock through the Kensington lock recess. The accessory costs $49.
The Pro Security Lock Adapter makes it possible to connect a Mac Pro 2013 model to an existing Kensington lock. The adapter can be attached to the desktop without any additional tools. This also makes it impossible to access the internals of a Mac Pro.
Apple charges for the anti-theft accessory in the US a price of 49 dollars, or approximately 36 euros. The computer manufacturer has not yet released an adapter for the new Mac Pro models. Macrumors reports that the manufacturer has so far used an alarm system that works via the Ethernet connection for Mac Pro models installed in its stores: if the network cable is removed, an alarm goes off.
