British student must appear in court over Spamhaus Ddos attack
A 17-year-old man from London has to appear in court because, according to British justice, he was involved in large-scale Ddos attacks on spam fighter Spamhaus. The youngster had already been arrested in April last year but had been released on bail.
The teen is charged with computer abuse and fraud, The Register reports. The unnamed suspect is said to have carried out several DDOs attacks on Spamhaus, a spam fighter, making the organization’s site inaccessible. He would also have attacked internet exchanges via the DDOs method. The man is also allegedly guilty of money laundering.
British police arrested the minor in April last year. After some time, the 17-year-old London resident was released on bail, but computer equipment was seized upon his arrest. The police would then have found sufficient evidence to drag the man before the juvenile court.
It is not yet clear why the British student targeted Spamhaus. The spam fighter had to deal with ddos attacks that amounted to 300 gigabits per second. The ddos attacks used dns amplification, a particularly aggressive method to bring websites to their knees.
