Facebook states that it will continue to develop Home, an alternative Android homescreen. The software is not yet very popular and there were earlier rumors that Facebook Home would be put on hold.

A Facebook spokesperson told The Verge that Home is still being worked on. However, it remains unclear with what intensity the software is still being developed and what exactly plans the company has with its Android home screen. Facebook is responding to earlier rumors, brought out by The New York Times, that the development of Home would be stopped. The development team responsible for the software would have already been dismantled, according to the American newspaper.

With Home, Facebook wants to integrate its social networking site more deeply into the Android operating system, in order to emulate the idea of a ‘Facebook phone’. Android users can install the software for free from the Play Store, but the service turned out to be little so far popular. In addition, Facebook Home has not been updated since January. Facebook released its alternative Android homescreen last year.
