HTC has promised through a blog post on its site to provide the One M7 and One M8 with the new operating system within 90 days of receiving Android L. Also, all models not older than two years will receive the upgrade to the new Android version.

According to HTC, however, those models have to wait until an undisclosed time. As soon as HTC gets started with making Android L suitable, it will keep users informed of the progress via a specially published page. Currently, HTC is still in the ‘evaluation’ phase, because Google has not yet provided smartphone makers and chipset manufacturers with the necessary software to integrate the new operating system. The 90 days start when HTC has received the final software from Google.

Android L is the latest version of Google’s operating system. The American company announced the update for Android at its I/O developer conference on Wednesday. A preview version for the Nexus 5 and 7 of the software is already coming this week and ‘L’ should officially appear later this year. Android L is built around Google’s new design guidelines, which the company calls ‘Material Design’.
