Instagram will show ads in more countries

The social photo network Instagram will also show ads to users from Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia later this year. The app, which is owned by Facebook, started showing ads to US users in November 2013.

Instagram has recently partnered with a limited number of brands to develop ads that are engaging and feel natural in users’ feeds. The display of these advertisements is through featured photos of companies. US users have recently been able to provide feedback on advertisements they have seen.

Instagram calls the collaboration with its users successful. The results of the advertisements would in some cases even be much better than the average in the advertising industry. As with the original ad introduction, Instagram is cautious about introducing it in Canada, the UK and Australia. The reason for this would be that the company does not want to scare users by showing advertisements. In the future, the social photo network wants to expand its advertising platform to even more countries.

Facebook bought Instagram in early 2012 for a price reported to be around $1 billion. The company may use Instagram as a major source of income as Facebook’s popularity among teens declines. This while the popularity of Instagram among teenagers is increasing.
