Download PeaZip 1.7
Various compression formats are used to reduce the size of files for storage or transmission over the Internet, such as arj, rar, zip and 7z. Pea is a relatively unknown compression format that mainly focuses on data security. For example, it uses a flexible integrity check and can use both a passphrase and a keyfile to read the stored data. More information about the pea format can be found in this pdf to be found. PeaZip is the program that can be used to create and read a pea file on Linux and Windows systems. In addition, it also supports several other compression formats by using 7-Zip, PAQ8, Strip, UPX and QUAD. The developers released PeaZip 1.7 this week and provided the following changes:
New:
- Frontend for QUAD 1.12 and UPX 3.0;
- Windows installer now can create context menu entries alongside the usual SendTo links;
- Linux versions reduced of about 4 MB of uncompressed space due to compression with UPX of gwrap and pea binaries (from about 14 to about 10 MB);
- Added keyboard shortcuts to create archive and browse archive interfaces;
- Added -add2zipmail, -add2sfx7zmail and -add27zmail quick functions to send archives to compatible mail client;
- Updated information texts and links, changed button text and window title during archive definition;
- Updated Pea executable look and feel (Pea 0.13).
New options:
- Save default compression/extraction paths;
- Save archive browser settings;
Fixes:
- Patched PAQ8* executables for a known problem on Windows Vista only;
- Fixed bug in saving default archiving format;
- Fixed bug in handling relative filenames.
