Bitfenix shows three prototype housings
Taiwanese manufacturer BitFenix has showcased its upcoming lineup of enclosures at Computex. The company brought three prototypes. BitFenix made a mitx case, a larger matx case and a large atx case.
The largest of the trio is the Atlas. Motherboards up to eatx size with eight expansion slots can be built into this housing. There’s also room for up to ten 3.5″ drives and six 2.5″ drives. Those drives are built into the right compartment of the 383mm wide housing. That leaves plenty of room for cooling: there is room for six 120mm or four 140mm fans in the front, top and side. On the back, two more 120mm fans can be built in. The housing is equipped with lighting, dust filters and extendable trays.
A slightly more conventional housing is the Aegis: this matx and mitx housing is 200mm wide and 465mm high and deep. Fits four 3.5″ drives, along with three 2.5″ drives. There is still plenty of room for cooling: three 120mm fans fit in the front, two 120mm or 140mm fans at the top and a 120mm copy at the bottom and back. Of course, the fans can be exchanged for radiators for water cooling.
The smallest housing is the most subtle: the Pandora has two side panels that also form the curves of the front panel. They don’t quite match, which is filled by a grid with BitFenix logo. That logo is not standard: your own content can be displayed on the small LCD module. Also on the top is a removable grille, along with the front panel connectors. The housing is 160mm wide, 418mm high and 459mm deep. That leaves room for a mitx board, two 3.5″ and 2.5″ drives and two 120mm fans above and in the front. The designs are not yet completely finished and prices and introduction dates are still unknown.
