Microsoft is bringing Halo 5: Guardians to Xbox One in Fall 2015. Last year, Microsoft promised that a Halo game would come to consoles in 2014. According to Microsoft, the ‘Halo journey’ will start in 2014, but it is still unclear what this entails.

In June 2013, at its E3 keynote, Microsoft showed a teaser of a new Halo title, due for release in 2014 for the new Xbox One console. With the announcement of a release in autumn 2015, the new part in the Halo series comes a year later than expected.

Developer 343 Industries does not give a reason, but the developer does say that Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger project than Halo 4. “That goes for the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology,” the developer says, with the last comment referring to a new engine.

Microsoft says the comment about a release in 2014 was about the beginning of a “journey” and that it will start this year “by leaps and bounds.” However, the company does not provide further details; they should follow during the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing, on June 9.
