Google releases separate apps for Docs and Sheets
Google has released separate apps for Docs and Sheets. The company made the announcement on its blog. The functionality is not new, because it was already in the Google Drive app, but Google is now pulling the apps separately from its web storage service.
The apps can be downloaded for both Android and iOS. In Docs and Sheets, users can create both documents and sheets. Documents are also available offline and users can see who is working in a document at the same time. The Slides app will follow soon, according to Google.
With the release of the Docs and Sheets apps, Google is directly competing with Microsoft’s Office Online. Microsoft expanded its software package in mid-April with a number of new features such as vba support and the ability to have several people work in one document at the same time.
