Microsoft gives OneDrive for Business users 1TB storage
Microsoft has significantly increased the available cloud storage for OneDrive for Business: instead of 25GB, the user will now receive 1TB of space. Office 365 business subscribers with OneDrive for Business will also immediately receive 1TB of OneDrive for Business storage per user.
The upgrades in available cloud storage for business accounts on OneDrive, previously known as SkyDrive, have been announced by Microsoft on the Office Blog and are effective immediately. OneDrive for Business is a relatively new product that is offered as a separate package and can be seen as a counterpart to services such as Dropbox and Box. Despite this, the integration with the Office suite has remained intact, according to Microsoft. At the introduction, users were still 25GB, but that has now been increased to 1TB. The service normally costs 5 dollars per month, although Microsoft offers a temporary discount.
In addition to OneDrive for Business, Office 365 ProPlus subscribers will also benefit from the increased storage capacity, according to Microsoft. However, Microsoft watcher Mary Jo Foley says that all Office 365 business subscriptions that purchase a OneDrive for Business package are covered by the upgrade, such as the SharePoint Online subscriptions and the various Office 365 packages for small and medium-sized businesses.
