Microsoft adds Office Online to the Chrome Web Store
Microsoft has added Office Online to the Chrome Web Store. Word Online, PowerPoint Online and OneNote Online can now be used as an app for Chrome. Excel Online will follow soon, according to the American company.
The web apps were already usable as such in Chrome, just like in other browsers, but can now be added to the app overview of the Chrome browser and of Chrome OS via Google’s store of the same name. Microsoft is also making a number of changes to the entire Office Online package. The option to comment on documents has been added to Excel Online, among other things. Also, support for spreadsheets with VBA has been improved. Users should now be able to modify those spreadsheets without getting corrupted. Multiple users can now add comments, edit a document at the same time and the option to place embedded Youtube videos in your Powerpoint has been added.
Microsoft introduced Office Online just over two months ago, which until today was only available through Office.com, as the free alternative to Office 365. Office Online offers a number of Microsoft Office products online for free and also gives users 7 gigabytes of online storage space. .
