Samsung to introduce portable SSD with 64-layer Nand in June
Samsung would like to announce a new line of external SSDs next week. The SSDs would appear in the T5 line and built around 64-layer V-Nand flash storage. Samsung releases the T5 in black, silver and blue.
A source told the Korea Herald. The T5 follows the T3 line of external SSDs. They were based on Samsung’s 48-layer V-Nand. Korea Herald speculates that models with more storage capacity will appear in the T5 series, due to the switch to 64-layer Nand memory.
Samsung announced its fourth-generation V-Nand with 64 layers last August. The maximum storage capacity of the T3 line of external SSDs was 2TB, that of the T5 line could theoretically reach 4TB. Samsung confirms to the Korean newspaper that it is working on a successor to the T3, but the company states that no introduction date has yet been set.
