Google largely shuts down Nest.com site

Google will now refer visitors from Nest.com to the Google Store. With this, the company is taking another step towards phasing out Nest.com. Earlier, Google withdrew the Works with Nest program.

Anyone visiting Nest.com will now see a notification that Nest.com has been moved to the Google Store, Droid-life noted. Nest’s support page also points to support.google.com. “You can now learn about all Nest products in one place and you can also buy them here: the Google Store,” Google writes on the page. Nest used to sell its products and services on Nest.com.

The site is not completely gone yet. For example, users can still log in to home.nest.com to open their Nest account and view their Nest Aware subscriptions and order history here. It is unclear whether Google has plans to move this one as well.

Google took over Nest in 2014 and left the smart home brand undisturbed for a long time. During Google I/O, the company announced that it would merge Nest and Google Home into Google Nest and the Google Home Hub will come out as the Nest Hub. Also part of the strategy change was the termination of the Works with Nest program. That led to a lot of criticism and questions, forcing Google to explain that existing connections between Nest products and services from third-party developers will continue to work.
