Microsoft is likely to announce new Surface product on May 23
Microsoft announces that it will hold an event in Shanghai on May 23. What the manufacturer will present exactly is not stated in the invitation, but Surface CEO Panos Panay is present and refers to the event in a tweet with the hashtag #surface.
The announcement of the event simply states: ‘Microsoft will show the world what’s next’, the date and the location. from a tweet however, it is clear that Panos Panay, which handles the company’s Surface hardware, is in attendance. He is expected to announce new products on May 23.
Microsoft may announce the Surface Pro 5 at the event. Tech journalist Paul Thurrot claimed early last month that the new model contains few changes compared to the Surface Pro 4. The fifth generation would use Kaby Lake processors; the Surface Connect connection would be retained.
It seems plausible that Microsoft will continue to use its own Connect port. The Surface Laptop announced this week also has that connection. Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 4 tablet with keyboard cover in October 2015.
