Google updates list of Chromebooks that can run Android apps
Google has updated a previously published list of Chromebooks. The list shows which Chromebooks will be equipped with support for Android apps in the future and now shows the stage of development.
Based on the published information, it can be seen that support is planned for the vast majority of Chromebooks, but it is not yet clear when this will be realized. Google had already announced support for the Asus Chromebook Flip C100PA, the Acer Chromebook R11 and the 2015 version of the Google Chromebook Pixel back in January.
A number of devices have now been added, for which support is located in the stable channel, including the Samsung Chromebook Plus. Others are in the beta channel, such as Acer’s Chromebook R13 and Asus’ Chromebook Flip C302. Google had previously announced that all Chromebooks released in 2017 and beyond will receive support for Android apps.
It is not yet known when the support on the other models will be available. Google had initially promised this before the end of 2016, but that date has not been met. Google announced in May 2016 that Chrome OS would get Android apps through the Play Store.
