Microsoft patent shows stylus with dynamic OLED display
Microsoft has applied for a patent for a stylus with a built-in OLED screen. It would come on the Surface Pen with which users can write on their tablets.
The patent shows an image of what looks like an existing Surface Pen, but with a touch screen on the flat side. The patent was filed in 2017 and has now been made public. It’s not clear if Microsoft has serious plans to add the technology to a real stylus.
The patent describes how the display can show things dynamically. For example, notifications of e-mails can appear, and a thicker or thinner stripe can be chosen while drawing. The patent also states how the information on the screen changes based on what the user is doing. The screen could also function as a scroll wheel.
