Video card maker Galax has presented the GTX 1070 Katana. The video card is 16mm thin and therefore only takes up one slot of space. The cooler consists of a vapor chamber and a thin fan.

Galax refers to a ‘turbo radiator’ and refers to the radial fan that blows the air over the copper cooling block with vapor chamber. The cooler’s design is similar to the Founders Edition of the GTX 10 cards, but a lot thinner. The manufacturer does not provide any information about the card’s cooling performance or sound pressure.

The video card has a base clock of 1518MHz and a boost clock of 1708MHz. That’s marginally higher than the clock speeds Nvidia specifies as a reference. Galax uses a proprietary PCB and the card is 26.7 cm long. At the back are an HDMI 2.0b, displayport 1.4 and a DVI-D connections.

Its slim design means the card should fit in enclosures with limited space. It is also possible to combine two cards and a sli setup. It is not known in which countries Galax will release the card and what the Katana version of the GTX 1070 will cost.
