League of Legends latest patch introduces heavily modified champion Galio
On Wednesday, Riot Games, the maker of League of Legends, will release patch 7.6. The main innovation in the patch is a completely changed champion. Previously a fairly vulnerable mage, Galio has now become a brutal tank that must take the brunt of battle in the heat of battle.
In Galio’s revamped background story, introduced with the new patch, the champion was originally a giant stone statue that has been magically brought to life. His identity is now a strong warrior who leads the battle and can take the necessary blows and especially magical damage.
To this end, Galio’s abilities have been significantly modified. With his most powerful ability, Hero’s Entrance, Galio is able to jump high into the air before plunging into enemies from a great distance, protecting befriended champions. Enemies take considerable damage as a result and fly through the impact in the air.
In addition, Galio can also punch enemies in the air with Justice Punch, a kind of uppercut that launches himself forward over a short distance in a certain direction. Galio also has a magical spell that allows him to deal damage from a distance, and an ability to absorb magical damage and draw enemies towards him.
Before this change, Galio was a relatively vulnerable mage in the form of a gargoyle who relied primarily on his magical spells and his ability to absorb magical damage. The champion then had much less of an identity to protect others and constantly seek out fights.
