Satellite sees Curiosity driving around on Mars

NASA has posted a photo online showing Curiosity. The Mars cart can be seen from above as it circles the planet’s surface. Curiosity can be seen driving through a valley on its way to Mount Sharp.

The image in question is on the website of Space.com te to see, but Curiosity is hard to spot. Match the display of the big picture the dot that the Mars rover is supposed to display is somewhat visible. Although it requires some empathy, it is easy to see how the cart drives on the rough terrain through a valley, surrounded by hills or mountains.

Curiosity is on its way to Mount Sharp, a mountain 5.5km high from the valley floor. The cart is still moving, but it’s not like the dust clouds are flying off it: in the time Curiosity has traveled around Mars, it’s only traveled 10km. At Mount Sharp, research must be done into climate change on the red planet.

The image was taken on April 8 by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, a satellite orbiting Mars that carries camera equipment. The satellite has already taken a lot of images that are worth looking at: you can do that at this one website.
