IKEA makes it possible to control Symfonisk speakers via Trådfri app and separate remote
Ikea’s Symfonisk speakers, which are made with Sonos technology, to be released in August, will also be controllable via the Trådfri app and a remote control from autumn. Until then, you can control via the Sonos app, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and AirPlay.
The Trådfri app is already there, but it needs an update to be able to control the smart speakers, reports the Swedish furniture giant. With the application you can control the smart lighting and curtains of Ikea. If you want to use the Trådfri app to control the speakers, you should also get the connection hub of the same name, for €32.95. There is not yet a price for the remote control.
Ikea showed prototypes of its two models of smart speakers for a while, but did not reveal the final designs until April of this year. The series consists of a table lamp in which the lower half is formed by a speaker and a speaker that can be used as a bookshelf. According to Ikea and Sonos, the table lamp is in fact a combination of a Sonos One smart speaker and a lamp. The table lamp costs 179 euros and the bookshelf speaker costs 100 euros. Both products will be available later this year, starting in August.
