PocketBook InkPad Color with 7.8″ color screen costs 299 euros
PocketBook has released its InkPad Color with 7.8″ color screen. The e-reader that can display 4096 colors costs 299 euros. The screen has a resolution of 1872×1404 pixels. The e-reader already appeared in Russia under a different name.
The PocketBook InkPad Color is available through the manufacturer itself and at other European web stores for 299 euros. The e-reader contains a Kaleido screen from E Ink, which can display 16 shades of gray and 4096 colors. The screen has a low refresh rate and is therefore economical. The color rendering must make the e-reader suitable for reading comics, for example.
The company tells The Verge that the InkPad Color uses a new version of the Kaleido screen, with better contrast. The manufacturer would also have improved the refresh rate with software. The pixel density is 300ppi when displaying black and white and 100ppi when displaying color.
Last week, the new PocketBook color e-reader already appeared on the Russian manufacturer’s website. The model there is called PocketBook 740 Color. The name of the InkPad Color is different, but the specifications are the same for that model. Last year, the first e-readers with a color screen were released. Those were 6″ models.
