Central Brain Identifier has a birthday. It has been exactly two years since the first public beta saw the light of day. To celebrate this, the final version 7.40 has been released. The program recognizes more than fifty models of AMD processors and provides detailed information such as core name, revision and voltage, frequency, rating, cache and PowerNow technology. In addition, it is also able to perform some tweaks with regard to, for example, the L1 cache and the Clock Control Register. In version 7.4, a new tab has been added where information about “mobile features” of K7 and AMD64 processors is displayed. The changelog for this release looks like this:

• Realized full identification of the newest mobile AMD Turion 64 MT/ML series processor.
• Added support to Winbond W83627EHF è W83637HF chips to sense the VCore and CPU temperature.
• Added complete recognition of the AMD Opteron processor based on Athens, Troy and Venus cores.
• Added determination of rare processor models of the AMD Athlon XP 2900 and Athlon 64 3300+ CPU.
• Added algorithm to determine and unlock the protection to FID transition of AMD K7 processors.
• Added showing information on Super I/O chip concerning vendor name, chip model and its version.
• Realized specifically optimized algorithm to sense the VCore and CPU temperature using ITE chips.
• Added determination of the maximum work temperature and diode offset of the AMD64 processor.
• The formula which calculates a P-Rating for the processor now supports many newest AMD64 CPUs.
• The specific information on the AMD64 CPU has been enhanced and moved to the Controller tab.
• Added method to identify the Package and Proc.Technology when AMD64 CPU isn’t fully recognized.
• Added determination of the whole HT Link frequency range supported by the AMD64 processor.
• Fixed a bug in the HT Link revision determination, added revision of the HT Link I/O Specification.
• Fixed the bugs when setting new DRAM timings for the VIA KT400A and VIA KT600 chipsets.
