Google Photos will automatically improve white balance in photos
Google has made adjustments to its Photos service, making it possible to adjust the white balance automatically. That should make it easier to get photos with the right color scheme.
The new functionality was announced on Google’s blog. When photos are uploaded to Photos and opened in the editor, the software automatically adjusts the white balance. For example, a photo taken indoors will become less unnaturally yellow, while a photo taken outdoors will turn less unnaturally blue, according to Google. It was already possible to have the exposure and color saturation adjusted automatically.
If you want to make further adjustments to the white balance, you can still do this manually. According to Google, the functionality to automatically adjust the white balance is especially useful for users who don’t have the expertise or time to do it themselves.
Google promises to roll out the innovations on Android and the web version of Photos in the coming days. iOS is also under consideration, but the internet giant has not released a specific release date, other than that it should be “soon”.
