Spotify test subscription for lossless audio
Spotify is testing the Spotify Hi-Fi service. For an additional cost, users can receive lossless audio streaming. If the company actually offers the service, it will compete with Tidal, among other things.
Several Reddit users report having had an offer for “Spotify Hi-Fi” at varying prices, of $5, 7.50, or $10 on top of existing prices. The service speaks at the offer of ‘Lossless CD quality audio’.
To The Verge, Spotify indicates that it often conducts tests, but that it has nothing to announce at the moment. If the service does indeed come up with a lossless offer, Spotify will compete with Tidal, Qobuz, Aspiro and Deezer, among others.
