Lenovo to release four 8″ and 10″ tablets with Android 7 . in May
Lenovo has introduced a number of tablets in its Tab line at Mobile World Congress. It concerns four models, two of which are under the name Tab 4 and two under the name Tab 4 Plus. The tablets run Android 7 and have Qualcomm-socs.
In both categories there are two screen sizes: 8″ and 10″. Despite the different sizes, the two Tab 4 tablets have an IPS screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. Both models have a 64-bit Snapdragon 425 quad-core soc that runs at a maximum of 1.4 GHz, in combination with an Adreno 308 GPU. The storage is also the same, the tablets have 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage, which can be expanded with a micro-SD card of up to 128GB.
The capacity of the battery differs between the two sizes. The 8″ model has a 4850mAh one on board, while the 10″ version is a 7000mAh model. There is also support for 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, and the tablets are suitable for the playback of Dolby Atmos via double speakers. On the back, the tablets have a five-megapixel camera with autofocus; on the front, that’s a two-megapixel variant.
The two tablets of the Plus variant differ from the normal Tab 4 models in several ways. For example, they have a fingerprint scanner on board, with which users can log in. The 8″ and 10″ IPS screens have a resolution of 1900×1200 pixels and are provided with an additional protective layer, claims the manufacturer. They run on an octacore Snapdragon 625-soc with up to 2GHz and have an Adreno 506-gpu.
The tablets have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Here too, expansion with a micro-SD card is possible. Unlike the micro USB port of the normal Tab 4 models, the Plus copies have a USB-c port. The tablets support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. In terms of sound and battery, there is no difference with the other models. That is with a view to connectivity, the Plus tablets support WiFi-ac at 2.4 and 5GHz in addition to Bluetooth 4.2. There is a five-megapixel camera on the front and an eight-megapixel camera on the back.
All announced tablets run Android 7 and are for sale in combination with additional packs. The ‘Kid’s Pack’ includes child-friendly content and parental controls, while the ‘Productivity Pack’ includes a bluetooth keyboard that serves as a sleeve and kickstand. The Tab 4 models will be released at the end of May and the prices of the 8″ Tab 4 and the Tab 4 Plus are respectively 169 and 259 euros. The 10″ variants cost 179 euros and 299 euros for the Plus model.
