Images that would come from a system dump of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 tablet show a number of features of the Galaxy S8 and a docking station for the device. Among other things, you can see that the fingerprint scanner is on the back.

The illustrations show a phone with the fingerprint scanner on the back. The screen extends almost to the bottom of the phone, so there is no physical Home button and the phone uses virtual buttons on the screen for navigation.

Android Police got the files from an anonymous tipster who claims the illustrations are on a Tab S3 tablet. That tablet has not yet been announced, but Samsung will probably announce the tablet at the Mobile World Congress at the end of February. The presence of the images in the tablet software may indicate that there are features for certain inter-device collaboration.

The images further show a docking station called DeX. This probably allows the Galaxy S8 to be connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse, similar to the Continuum functionality of Windows 10 Mobile.

The fact that the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a fingerprint scanner on the back, does not have a physical Home button and uses onscreen buttons has already been brought out in various rumours, sometimes with evidence in the form of photos. The illustrations seem to confirm all this information. Samsung previously filed a trademark registration for the DeX dock.

Samsung will not announce the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress. According to rumors, the South Korean manufacturer will announce during that fair when the unveiling of the new flagship will take place.
