First race for self-driving cars ends in a crash

A race for self-driving cars has been held in Argentina. Two cars started, but the race came to an end when one of the vehicles cornered too aggressively. The race was part of an experiment.

The race took place during the Formula E Grand Prix in Buenos Aires, where normally electric cars with a driver compete against each other. The Roborace company seized the opportunity to test two racing cars on the track that do not require a driver. Devbot 2, one of two self-driving cars, came however, ended up in a crash, causing Devbot 1 to win the race.

A journalist placed a short video of the race on Twitter. Although the Devbots do not reach the speeds of conventional racing cars, they still managed to reach speeds of approximately 185 km/h.

With the race for self-driving cars, Roborace wanted to test its technology. These are still early versions of the racing cars, where a driver can also take a seat. Finally, the cars get a different look.
