British Army Twitter and YouTube Accounts Spread Crypto Scam After Hacks
The British Army’s Twitter and YouTube accounts were hacked and taken over over the weekend. The criminals changed the names of the accounts and spread crypto scams. The British military has now regained control of the accounts.
The social media accounts were taken over last Saturday and both pretended to be two separate crypto organizations. Bee the YouTube account the hackers pretended to be part of investment company Ark Invest. All army videos were removed and four live streams from the likes of Elon Musk were shown instead. These live streams were replays of previous legitimate live streams. The videos showed overlays of crypto scams. These videos have been viewed by tens of thousands of people.
Sunday morning said the British Ministry of Defence that the accounts are back in the hands of the British military. An investigation into the incident is now underway. The military has apologized for the ‘temporary interruption’. It is unknown who is behind the attack.
